como e fabricado o vidro

The composition of glass is basically formed by sand, sodium carbonate (soda), limestone, mineral oxide (such as iron oxide), among others.

About 70% of the glass composition is made up of very fine sand. The silica comes from this sand. The soda is the second most important raw material in the composition of the glass, it is what provides the sodium. The third most important raw material for glass is limestone, from which calcium oxide is used.

The raw materials are mixed with a little water and sent to ovens at extremely high temperatures, where they begin to melt, taking on the appearance of a liquid and shiny mass.

Still inside the furnace, the molten glass is stirred in order to equalize the temperature throughout the mass. A few hours later, it is poured into a bath of liquid tin, in which the liquid mass will float.

In a soft state, the glass is molded, after which it receives a series of cooling treatments and shapes until it reaches the final frame, as we see in packaging, kitchen utensils, windows, building facades and glazing.
